New Dental Program on Big Island and Maui

August 9, 2019 - A new teledentistry program is being piloted on Maui and the Big Island as a way to extend access to care in Hawaii because one in four children have untreated tooth decay.

People still don't see oral health as important as other health issues but our executive director, Deborah Zysman advocates for more access to oral health care. 

“It’s not an insurance issue here, it’s other access-to-care problems we’re looking at,” [Zysman] said. “That’s why we’ve been advocating for teledentistry. It’s cheaper and more effective.”
