Champions for Children 2020

As advocates for the health and safety of all our families, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our inaugural Champions for Children event this evening. As this week has progressed and COVID-19 has been elevated to pandemic state, we feel that protecting the health and safety of our community must be our highest priority.

We hope to reschedule the event later in 2020, and we will send more details out later.

All proceeds will go directly toward transforming the lives of Hawaiʻi’s children through HCAN’s research, advocacy, and leadership development.

48% of Hawaiʻi families struggle to afford basic needs. Overall, Hawaiʻi ranks only 24th in the nation for children’s well-being. Recent research like the Aloha United Way ALICE® Report has shone a new light on the problem.

  • Less than half of our keiki go to preschool.
  • Among 4th graders, only 33% are reading at grade level.
  • Our keiki have the highest rate of tooth decay in the US.

With your support, our children and grandchildren can have a brighter future. Founded in 1997, Hawaiʻi Children’s Action Network works to ensure all children are safe, healthy, and ready to learn. We are exclusively dedicated to advocating for children through:

  • Impactful research about children’s well-being.
  • Collaborative coalitions that advocate for change.
  • Empowering parents to be community leaders.
