  • Prevent Child Abuse - Hawaiʻi Chapter

Hawai‘i Children's Action Network (HCAN) is our state's chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America and we are launching a movement. The mission of Prevent Child Abuse Hawai‘i is to advance policies and services that prevent harm before it happens.

Families in Hawai‘i deserve to "have what they need, when they need it, in the communities where they live... before a crisis occurs — then children can thrive."

About PCA HI

Prevent Child Abuse Hawai‘i: Ola Ka Palekana Mamo (PCA HI) focuses on shifting prevention narratives, centering the needs of children and families in system changes, and enhancing child health, safety, and well-being through long-term policy solutions grounded in equity and justice. PCA HI was established as a program of HCAN through provisional chapter status granted by Prevent Child Abuse America in June 2024 and is working to complete the chartering process in 2026.

Chapter Name

Prevent Child Abuse Hawai‘i: Ola Ka Palekana Mamo, was developed through a thoughtful process and reflects our commitment to safety and protection for keiki and future generations. The native Hawai‘i mamo bird symbolizes the fragility and value of children, reminding us to build nurturing environments where families thrive. PCA HI's mission is to advance policies and services that stop child maltreatment before it occurs. Our vision holds that families have what they need in the communities where they live, without stigma, to ensure children can thrive.
