Hawaii Children's Action Network runs a 20-week Leadership Program for parents/caregivers/community members to teach them how to be more effective leaders and advocates in their communities.

Arlina Wong (a former Board member for HCAN) brought National Parent Leadership Institute Program to Hawaii 4 years ago and we have been gradually expanding the program to be all over the state of Hawaii - not just on Oahu. Last year we expanded to Maui and this year we got funding to expand to Hilo.

In order to get a Cohort going we need a few things to get us up and running.

We need a Civic Design Team - these are folks who will help promote, recruit and raise resources for the program

An On-Site Coordinator - this person will oversee the day-to-day operations, make arrangements, do set up and generally keep things on track

Four facillitators to run the sessions - this is split into 2, 10-week sessions with 2 facilitators for each Phase.

And we have a goal of 20 participants each year.
