Hawaii News Now - New COVID-19 guidelines poised to dramatically alter how child care facilities operate

Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 - The Department of Human Services released safety guidelines for childcare providers that are reopening. The guidelines require much smaller classes and new sanitary requirements for the providers. The smaller classes means fewer spots for children which is worrisome for parents. Eligible child care providers can apply for federal funds from the state but Deborah Zysman, executive director for Hawaii Children Action Network, said “we feel like it helps to throw a life vest out to childcare providers who are really struggling right now. We are concerned that it’s not enough.”
