HCAN is hiring a full-time Director of Early Childhood and Health Policy, an experienced community leader with a demonstrated history of cultivating strong relationships and is passionate about policy change.
The Director will:

- Lead, develop, execute, and supervise work to advance primarily state policy, and as needed, federal and county policy Lead strategic issue campaigns that ensures the voices of those most impacted by systemic inequities are at the center of solutions
- Provide leadership and direction for HCAN’s government affairs, policy development, advocacy efforts and strategic community partnerships and coalitions in the topics of early care and learning, early childhood and children’s health.
- Coordinate research and analysis on critical policy issues, and develops and disseminates information to the public
- Develop and execute of strategic policy agendas, plans and campaigns
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with government and community leaders, advocates, and nonprofit agencies to develop and advance policy priorities
The Director of Early Childhood and Health Policy (Director) is part of the executive management team and one of the lead public policy coordinators for Hawai‘i Children’s Action Network and Hawai‘i Children’s Action Network Speaks! (collectively referred to as HCAN).
The Director is an experienced community leader with a demonstrated history of cultivating strong relationships and is passionate about policy change. They are firmly grounded in anti-racist principles; have effective facilitation, management and community organizing expertise; are excited at the prospect of growing a team; and welcome the opportunity to be a thought partner and team member to a small but exceptional staff.

HCAN engages, educates, and mobilizes families, community leaders, and policy makers to effect change so that all families can thrive. We use a multi-faceted approach that comprises advocacy and policy change, coalition-building, community mobilization, data and research, and strategic partnerships.
Salary range: $75,000-$85,000/year. This is an exempt, full-time position.
