Big Island Now - Hawai‘i Economy to Begin Reopening Thursday

Tuesday, May 5, 2020 -  Hawai‘i will begin allowing specific businesses to reopen on May 7, as Gov. David Ige on Tuesday announced phase one of the state’s economic reopening. Executive director of Hawai‘i Children’s Action Network (HCAN), Debora Zysman says there needs to be a plan in place for childcare and warns “there’s no economic recovery without child care,” and that “Schools and most child care providers are still closed, and the ones that are open have limited capacities.
